Jacquelyn Simone (she/her) is the Senior Copy Editor at the Legal Defense Fund's Thurgood Marshall Institute, where she uses her extensive experience in journalism and nonprofit communications to craft clear, compelling content that advances racial justice. She previously served as the Policy Director of the nonprofit Coalition for the Homeless in New York City, which entailed writing and editing various research reports and other materials as well as being the organization’s primary spokesperson. She also helped organize several successful advocacy campaigns, such as winning historic commitments to supportive housing and establishing a right to counsel in housing court for low-income tenants. Prior to joining the nonprofit sector, she worked as a journalist at national publications such as SELF magazine, GQ, and The National Memo. She graduated summa cum laude from Ithaca College with majors in journalism and politics, and she received her Master of Public Administration degree from Baruch College.
