This report, prepared by Tom Shapiro, Jessica Santos, and Sylvia Stewart from the Institute on Assets and Social Policy (IASP) at Brandeis University in partnership with Janell Byrd-Chichester, Coty Montag, Algernon Austin, Jair Froome and Will Searcy at the Thurgood Marshall Institute of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., provides a look at the Black-White racial wealth gap in the United States today, explains the historical foundations and contemporary drivers of the gap, and offers a lens for developing and assessing policies to address these structural disparities.
